Sheri Harrington's musical career began in Nova Scotia while obtaining her Bachelor of Music Education degree at Acadia University. It was in her home province that she was inspired by the musical recordings of the melodic sounds of saxophonist Paul Desmond and by the historic jazz singer Billie Holiday.

Relocating to Calgary shortly after graduation, she joined the Navy Reserve Band and traveled Canada from coast to coast performing private performances for the Queen of England, The Halifax International Tattoo and welcoming home the ships from the Persian Gulf War in Victoria. A very diverse military career includes conducting and instructing the military bands.

Milestones in her career include studying saxophone with classical player Claude DeLangle in Paris, France, jazz saxophonist P.J. Ferry from Edmonton at The Banff Centre for the Arts, and a vocal experience at a workshop with New York jazz great Janet Lawson. These and other experiences have influenced Ms. Harrington's style. Her past experience of teaching music in the Calgary public school system and her present job working as the Art and Culture Correspondent in southern Alberta for CKUA Radio Network all help as a binding strength in her musical career.

Sheri 3

Sheri has appeared in many clubs and concert halls throughout Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and France. Apart from her radio job, she has been interviewed on national television as well as local and national radio. On the other side, being master of ceremonies for both the Calgary Jazz and Folk Festivals has always been fun for her but not as gratifying as being nominated for an ARIA citation.

The innovative sounds of SHERI HARRINGTON has proven to be an intoxicating musical experience, her smoky vocals and her undertones of a smooth saxophone are accompanied by bands whose souls belong to jazz, latin, swing and the blues. Truly an experience not to be missed!
