David Poulsen NOW BOOKING FOR:
    AUTHOR VISITS
    WORKSHOPS
    BOOK TALKS
    CONFERENCE KEYNOTES
David A. Poulsen has emerged as one of Canada’s most sought-after guest authors and creative writing workshop leaders in schools. A former teacher, he is at home with students from K-12. His author visits are high energy, funny, informative and entertaining as he shares with students his life and love of writing.

READING REQUIREMENTS
David can work with virtually any size group in almost any setting for his author talks but requests that all audience members be able to see and hear him. It is a good idea to group the students as much as possible according to age for the individual sessions as it is difficult to be relevant and fun with an audience that includes kids in grade four and grade eight. Smaller groups are best for the workshops. (20 students is optimum and 25 is the maximum).

David would prefer a stool (rather than a chair) and a small table for his materials. No other equipment is needed although a microphone may be necessary if the presentation is in a large auditorium.

The length of presentations are as follows:
Author talk/Reading
    K-3....................................30 minutes*
Division Two and up............50 to 60 minutes*
*These are guidelines. Times can be adjusted to fit school class schedules
Workshops
Division Two and up...........1and 1/2 to 2 hours.
David is also available for Writer-in-Residence assignments of up to one week in length.

Often students wish to purchase autographed books during his visits. David is happy to have books available and will set aside time to sign each book. It works best for a note to be sent home to parents a few days in advance of David’s visit in order for those who would like to have books not to be disappointed. Arrangements have been made with all of David’s publishers to enable him to offer reduced prices on all his books during his visits to schools.

For any school ordering a class set of of any one of David’s books (minimum order--20 books), the fee for the will be reduced by $25.00 for a half day and $50.00 for a full day.

If overnight accommodation is required, David prefers a motel/hotel to a billet or Bed and Breakfast. Although he enjoys lunch with his host(s), he will decline dinner or evening invitations. His presentations are taxing and he has found that quiet and privacy are much needed at the end of the day.

Fees for school visits:
    Half Day...$175.00 plus GST*
    Full Day...$325.00 plus GST*
*This rate will apply for all bookings made before December 31,1998.
Accommodation and travel expenses do apply (where necessary) and are negotiable.
