December

After 2 years of ongoing renovations at our head office in Calgary, we finally hosted our Christmas Open House on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001. It was a huge success with several several hundred guests attending the event. In case you missed it, you can see photos of our office online. Four lucky guests won door prizes. Congratulations to David Wilkie & Denise Withnell who took home a brand new Sony DVD player supplied by Bestway T.V.

Three other prizes consisting of 250 CD Business Cards each were supplied by Cinram International. The winners are: Brenda Fox, Bruce Kim and Wilson & Lily Chow. All our offices will be closed for the Christmas holidays from December 22, 2001 to January 1, 2002. We will reopen on Wednesday, January 2, 2002. We wish all our clients (past, present, and future) a safe and happy holiday season and we look forward to serving you in the New Year!

As a final note, special thanks goes out to Calgary Firefighters and Miss Molly for distributing 1,200 copies of her new CD “Santa’s Snack” to children in need. All of us at Canada Disc & Tape Inc. along with Cinram International, Grenville/Nortec Printing, Trevor Waters, Ian Leitch, Derrick LaRiviere, David Foster, Pat Keenan and ATS are pleased to help sponsor this special “Gift of Music”.

We’re very happy to welcome Liane Schild (liane@candisc.com) back to our company this month. Liane was with our company for over 3 years during our early stages when were called Canada Cassette. A lot has changed since the days when we offered audio cassette duplication and vinyl record manufacturing! Now, we offer everything from business card CDs to DVD authoring and surround sound mastering.

And, speaking of surround sound mastering, we have ordered some new convertors built by the world reknown Ed Meitner at EMM Labs. Ed's products are being used by leading companies such as: Sony, Philips, Telarc, DMP, Gateway Mastering, Georgetown Masters, Abbey Road Studios, and others. He will be a guest speaker at the next AES meeting which will take place in our "50's diner" located at the Calgary office of Canada Disc & Tape Inc.

A new release of Open BSD is in the works. It will be packaged in a new Slimline Case that can hold 3 discs in the same size jewel case as a single CD! This innovative new product helps cut down on mailing costs and is just 5 cents more than the cost of a double slimline case. We're always on the lookout for new packaging solutions for our clients so if you don't see what you are looking for on our website, please ask.
