The AES reception: Graemme Brown, Doug Wong, Theresa Leonard and Ed Meitner

According to the AES (Audio Engineering Society), "high resolution surround recordings are an industry focus due to the proliferation of the Super Audio CD and DVD-Audio formats". Being one of the few facilities in North America that offer both DVD Audio and SACD Mastering, we were pleased to host a reception this month featuring Graemme Brown, chief engineer of Zen Mastering and the world renowned Ed Meitner, founder of EMM Labs.

The reception in our "staff diner" (adjacent to audiomastering.com) was held after an AES workshop on DSD (Direct Stream Digital) Surround Recording. It was attended by AES President, Theresa Leonard and a host of studio owners and engineers anxious to meet the guest speakers. Pictured here are: Graemme Brown, Doug Wong, Theresa Leonard and Ed Meitner.

Graemme Brown has worked with DSD recording since 1999 and has mastered 32 multi-channel SACD's for Concord Jazz as part of their 30th anniversary series of remixed classic albums. Other credits include mastering the world's first Hybrid SACD/Enhanced CD (Poncho Sanchez "Out of Sight") and Chick Corea's 2004 Grammy winning SACD "Rendezvous in New York".

Ed Meitner has had a distinguished career in the field of audio equipment research and design and currently builds world class DSD converters that are used in the top studios and mastering labs worldwide. In fact, we use Ed's converters at our in-house audio mastering facility along with the Switchman MK.II Switching Control Centre.
