November 2004:

News

With more and more DVD players and surround sound systems in homes today, the demand for higher quality recordings and multi-channel sound is growing rapidly. By far, the most popular method of listening to surround sound music to date is on DVD with over 3,500 Music Video titles currently available. However, both Super Audio CD (SACD) and DVD Audio formats are gaining momentum.

As we announced in our May 2004 news, we are one of the very few companies in Canada equipped to do SACD Mastering. Now, we have added the capabilities to do DVD Audio mastering and replication. One advantage of the DVD Audio format is that small run copies can be easily duplicated onto DVD-Rs. The prices for both DVD-R Audio duplication and DVD Audio replication are the same as their video counterparts.

Recent announcements by automobile manufacturers about including DVD Audio players in the Toyota Bevis (Japan Only) and the Acura TL (worldwide) have generated more interest in the DVD Audio format. Also, InterVideo, makers of WinDVD have announced support of DVD Audio in their WinDVD 5 player for Windows PCs (with the addition of the optional DVD-Audio Pack).

So, regardless of how you choose to deliver your music on disc (e.g. Compact Disc, Super Audio CD, DVD Audio or even using the audio tracks of DVD Video) we can handle all your mastering and replication needs today! For more information, contact one of our customer service reps or e-mail our mastering engineer: Richard Harrow.
