News

This month, we'd like to congratulate all the nominees and winners at the first annual WCMA (Western Canadian Music Alliance) Awards held in Regina, SK. Many of our clients have showcased in the past at Prairie Music Week and we are delighted that the PMIA (Pacific Music Industry Association) as well as the RAIYA (Recording Arts Industry - Yukon Association) have joined in to make this truly a Western Canadian event.

Clients we've had the privilege to serve over the years include: Butterfinger and Touchstone Gurus (both groups were nominated for Outstanding Rock Recording), soso (nominated for Outstanding Rap/Hip Hop Recording), Crystal Plamondon (nominated for Outstanding Francophone Recording), Mae Moore (nominated for Outstanding Pop Recording), Denis Grady (nominated for Outstanding Christian Recording), Darrell J Bueckert (nominated for Outstanding Instrumental Recording), and Tim Tamashiro (nominated for Outstanding Country Recording).

Another client nominated in this category was eighteen year old Samantha King. This talented young singer also received a nomination this year for a CCMA (Canadian Country Music Association) "Rising Star Award" and performed to a packed house for her showcase at the Pump.

Rounding out our "hat trick" of nominations for the WCMA's Outstanding Country Recording was Brad Johner who took home the trophy. Brad was also nominated for the "Outstanding Songwriter" award which was taken by the ever popular Jann Arden! During the event, SOCAN hosted a special reception for Brad commemorating the video of his hit single "Free" reaching Number One on CMT Canada's prestigious Top 20.
